ALS 5204: Research and Information Systems in the Life Sciences

Course goals

To give graduate students a solid foundation to perform ethical, replicable and reproducible research with the help of R and related tools. This will be accomplished through the following specific course goals:

To allow graduate students to learn about good practice tools such as

  • audit trails
  • experimental design and protocol writing for replicable trials, including sample size considerations
  • data management
  • reproducible statistical analysis

    • scripting, scripting, scripting
  • presentation of results

To allow graduate students to hone their practical skills for use the aforementioned tools through workshops
